The tomatoes are one cherry plant and one regular.  I think Harper likes the tomatoes too.

The mint plant seems like it could never die… stout little plant.  Hope Sage doesn’t eat too much of it.

I am a huge fan of Ivy.  I like ‘most every kind, though I can think of a couple that I won’t touch.

I know there is not a whole lot to maintaining potted plants, and Elaine could tell you that I desire to have a green thumb.  I have more of a nack for wrenches than fertilizer and dirt, but I am getting better.  Apparently it is possible to over water Ivy.  I killed off about 90% of a plant similar to the one above, before Elaine told me to stop watering twice a day.  I blame Elaine for not telling me sooner.  After all, she did work at a nursery.     The most healthy Ivy we have only gets watered when it starts to wilt.  That seems to work well enough that I was able to clip a few chunks to sprout new plants.

Looking forward to a few weeks from now being able to put these little guys in dirt.

I suppose I like Ivy due to my childhood exposure to Wrigley Field.  I am also aware that mice/rats like buildings with ivy due to the ample shelter and food provided by the ivy itself.

I hope to have a couple of fern plants sprouting up soon as well…

I took this with my cell phone right after mail call last night… the sky in the background was much more colorful in real life.  oh well, cell phone works well for phone calls.

This young lady works at the Valvoline near Thompson/Nolensville.  She changes the oil in customer’s cars during the day and rides rodeo at night.  She is competing in the Barrel Race.  I wish her the best of luck.  Poor horse had to be in the trailer all day while she was working.  I bet it is glad to get out and stretch the legs a bit.  I don’t think the patrol car scared it too badly, but I didn’t want to get to close… it would be tough to explain to my sergeant why I have a dent in the side of the car that looks like horse hooves.  Anyway, I think the oil change took about 7 mins, good work!

These are the first 3 at mile 22 of the Music City Marathon.

I had a pretty great assignment of 14th and Davidson for the first few hours of the Music City Marathon.  I was able to cheer on the runners and take pics because there was no vehicle traffic to direct.  I was a little more busy the second half of the day when my assignment got moved to 2nd Ave S and Shelby to direct approximately 36000 people trying to leave the downtown area in a downpour of rain.  But at least I got a couple good pics of these amazing athletes floating along at 11-12 mph.  Impressive stuff.  It reinforced my complete dislike / borderline hatred of me ever having to run.

Directing traffic for the Predators games is pretty sweet when you don’t even need to get out of your car to control the lights.  I did get out of my car, but mostly cause it was so boring, and I had been sitting too much that day already.

It was a good night with the family!  It rained a little, but that didn’t bother us.  We cheered, we heckled, watched drunk people cheer and heckle.  The Sounds games are a hidden jewel in Nashville.  Hope the Brewers keep ‘em here.

And it was Roy Orbison Night!   We all got some SWEEEEET sunglasses…
